BS in International Affairs, Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (1968) and PhD from Yale Law School (1973).
Political Career:
Clinton entered politics after graduating law school in the 1970s. He directed the Texas campaign of Democratic presidential nominee George S. McGovern and managed Georgia Democratic Governor Jimmy Carter's successful presidential run in Arkansas in 1976. He was elected Attorney General of Arkansas in 1976 and in 1978, at the age of thirty-two, he became the youngest governor in the United States. He served until 1980 but was then reelected Governor four more times, serving from 1982 to 1992.
From 1986 to 1987, Clinton served as chairman of the National Governors' Association. During that time, he led the governors' efforts to reform the welfare and educational systems. As former chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council, Clinton is one of the original architects and leading advocates for the Third Way movement.
Clinton was elected President of the United States in 1992 and again in 1996, making him the first Democratic president to be awarded a second term in six decades. Under his leadership, the United States enjoyed the strongest economy in a generation and the longest economic expansion in U.S. history.
