The Peruvian Way!

Perú, as you may well know, is one of the candidates for a Shared Societies Project country implementation.

This week we have been following the fantastic news to come out of Perú; its government is committed to the promotion of inclusive development and economic growth. Published on the website of the Peruvian News Agency Andina, we are very optimistic about the hopeful for the future of these government pronouncements. Such new measures display and evidence Perú’s firm commitment to tackling poverty, inequality and social exclusion, as Mauricio Chabaneix BellingChief of Staff of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – said last Thursday.

“There won’t be social inclusion without economic growth and there won’t be fair economic growth without social inclusion”, he said. Today, about a third of Peruvian people live in poverty – that equates to a staggering 10 million people!

He stressed that the government has both a responsibility to establish macroeconomic conditions, legal stability and the promotion of investment and export, and equally an obligation to adopt social policies in order to achieve an equitable distribution of the benefits that come from growth.
