Date and Place of Birth:

26 December 1955, Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina).

Education:

Mr. Lagumdzija graduated from the University of Sarajevo with a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (1977, 1981, and 1988, respectively).

Professional Experience:

Since 1989 Mr. Lagumdzija has worked as a Professor of Management Information Systems within the School of Economics as well as the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering School at the University of Sarajevo. He also currently serves as Director of the Management and Information Technology Centre in Sarajevo, a position which he has held since 1995 when he founded the center. Founder and Head of the Management and Information Technologies Department at the University  Sarajevo School of Economics since 1994. Teaching and research areas are Decision Support Systems; Competitiveness and Information Technologies; Shared Society and Sustainable Development; Managing Transition and Leading Change in which he has numerous lectures, books and over hundred papers and publications on international scene.

Political Career:

Former Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, member Club de Madrid , member of World Academy of Art and Science, founder of Shared Societies and Values Sarajevo Foundation  

Served in the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister, two times as Deputy Prime Minister and two times as Minister of Foreign Affairs in various periods between 1992 and 2015. President of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP) from 1997 until 2014 as a leader of governing coalitions or as a leader of opposition. Member of Presidency of Party of European Socialists from 2009  until 2016. Elected as a Member of Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina six times from 1996 to 2012.

He is actively involved in many international conferences as both a participant and a speaker, and has been awarded numerous national and international awards for his research and expertise. He is the author of over one hundred scholarly research and expert papers, numerous articles on Bosnian political and economic issues, and six books on Management Information Systems. Married, three children.
