Vaira Vike-Freiberga to debate in Madrid about the future of Democracy in Europe

The Club de Madrid and the Lavtia's Embassy in Madrid organize the visit of Vaira Vike-Freibega to Spain from the 15th to the 17th of November. The agenda includes the debate "The future of Democracy in Europe", co-organized by the CdM and the Instituto de Empresa.

Clinton and Lagumdzija join forces again for Shared Societies

A panel dedicated to Reconciliation and Shared Societies was held during the 2016 Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting, in which PM of Serbia ALexander Vucic and the major of Srebrenica Camil Durakovic were the participants. Zlatko Lagumdzija, former PM of Bosnia and Herzegovina and CdM member, attended the session. A survivor of the Srebrenica massacre, Advija Ibrahimovic, was also present.

Democracy pioneer, Antonio Mascarenhas Monteiro, passes away

Club de Madrid Member, António Manuel Mascarenhas Monteiro, has passed away, aged 72. He was  the first democratically elected President of Cape Verde in 1991 and was re-elected for a second time in 1996.He was one of the most respected figures in Africa and worldwide. Shall hs example inspire a next generation of democratic
