Rui Maria De Araujo & four CdM Members to participate in the NGD roundtable on the future of Democracy in Asia-Oceania

Club de Madrid Members President Ramos - HortaPresident Yudhoyono and Prime Ministers Thinley and Shipley, along with the current Prime Minister of Timor Leste, Rui Maria De Araujo, and President Francisco Luolo Guterres will lead a two-day discussion in DIli, the country's capital, to discuss about the present and future of democracy in Asia-Oceania

The Working Group on Sustainability and Shared Societies presents its output document at the UN

Shared values, Shared Leadership and Shared Responsibility for a Shared Future is what the Working Group calls for. The output documents were presented yesterday to the President of the United Nations Environmental Assembly, Edgar Gutiérrez. David Miller, former Mayor of Toronto and current President and CEO of WWF Canada, exposed the key findings and the tasks identified to achieve the Agenda 2030.

Members Mogae and Uteem discuss about PVE in Nigeria with country's key stakeholders

Club de Madrid Members, President Cassam Uteem (Mauritius) and President Festus Mogae (Bostwana) are leading a two days high level mission to Nigeria in which they have been received by the acting President of the country, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. During the meeting, held in Abuja this Monday, the former Presidents presented to Mr Osinabjo a report summarizing the conclusions from the National Workshop held last May in Nigeria.

'Paris: our values, our future' CdM statement on Trump and climate change

50 Members of the Club de Madrid, all of them democratically elected Presidents and Primer Ministers, plus 16 international experts and CdM advisors, have signed a statement regreting Trump's decision of pulling out from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. In it they call upon every signatory to show urgency and commitment in the fight against global warming.

Ban Ki-moon, new honorary Club de Madrid Member

 Former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has been elected honorary member of the Club of Madrid, a forum bringing together former presidents, prime ministers and world leaders promoting democracy, its values ​​and its institutions around the world. With Ban Ki-moon’s appointment, the organization counts now with three UN Secretary General leaders in its membership.

PM Lagumdzija met with Lebanon Grand Mufti during High Level visit to Lebanon

Club de Madrid Members react to Trump's decision of pulling out the US of the Paris Agreement

President Donald Trump's announcement that the US is withdrawing from the 2015 Paris climate agreement has drawn strong reaction from leaders around the globe. Club de Madrid Members have reacted and spoken out advocating for keeping the Paris Agreement a strong international tool to serve today’s and future generations.
