SSP, GeorgiaClub de Madrid Member Laura Chinchilla participated as keynote speaker at the 2016 ECOSOC High-level Segment Thematic Dialogue ‘Sustainable infrastructure for all’ on Thursday, 21 July 2016. The former President of Costa Rica delivered a powerful speech in which she advocated for the Shared Societes concept, stating that We believe in societies that are not owned by any one sector of society but belong to everyone'. She also addressed the urgency of thinking in 'infraestructures that respond for people's needs and respect the minimun rules to avoid enviromental damage'.

Sixth High-Level Mission towards peaceful democracy transition in Myanmar

Majors from South East Europe join in a Shared Societies effort

SSP, GeorgiaThe Shared Societies Project reached this Monday a very important milestone with the launching of a Declaration of Shared Cities in South East Europe. The declaration, based on the principles of Shared Societies, recognises the crucial role local governments play in healing divisions based on identity across the region. The document was approved by the participants of the conference, jointly organized by the Club de Madrid, City of Sarajevo, Shared Societies and Values Foundation Sarajevo, founded by Club de Madrid Member Zlatko Lagumdzija.

Club de Madrid Tackles the role of the Military in Myanmar´s Democratic Transition

Three world leaders wil lead the first meeting on Enviromental Sustainability and Shared Societies 

Shared Societies, Dominican Republic, Daniel de Torres, República DominicanaThe Club de Madrid, through its Shared Societies Project, has established a working group to examine the link between Shared Societies and environmental sustainability. Members Laura Chinchilla, ex President of Costa Rica; Zlatko Lagumdzija, ex Prime Minister of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Mary Robinson, ex President of Ireland, will lead the discussion on wheter a shared society is more likely to promote sustainability and the assumption that a sustainable society is more likely to facilitate social inclusion.
