Nineteen Haitian political parties attend a Club de Madrid/EU workshop on electoral manifestos and political communication lead by Sebastián Piñera and Andrés Pastrana

Piñera and Pastrana to share good practices on electoral campaigns and political communication in Haiti

Jorge Quiroga, Club de Madrid Vice-president and former President of Bolivia (2001-2002) will lead a two day mission (11-12 March) to New York City in the framework of the EU-funded project "Promoting Dialogue for Democratic Reform in Haiti". The main objective is to advocate for a maintained force level of the MINUSTAH in Haiti until after the 2015 elections and the newly elected government is formed.

A Club de Madrid high level mission lead by former Presidents Felipe Calderon (Mexico) and Jorge Quiroga (Bolivia) gathered different analysis of the political and institutional situation and conveyed a message highlighting the importance of inclusive dialogue and trust building in the political process with a clear aim: overcome the current institutional crisis featured by a dysfunctional parliament through ensuring the holding of free, transparent and inclusive elections in 2015.

Club de Madrid and the EU organized in Haiti a workshop on “Experiences of National Dialogue and Political Agreements”

In the framework of the EU-funded project "Promotion of dialogue for democratic reform in Haiti", the Club of Madrid convened a two-day workshop in Port-au-Prince on 21- 22 July to discuss concrete options for taking forward key pending democratic reforms in Haiti. The successful experiences on National Dialogue and Political Agreements of South Africa, Peru, Spain and Poland were shared with key Haitian political, economic and social players.

A Club de Madrid delegation, led by Cassam Uteem, President of Mauritius (1992-2002) and Carlos Westendorp, Secretary General of the organization and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain visited Haiti from the 18th to the 21st of February. They held meetings with President Martelly, Prime Minister Lamothe, Senate President M. Desras, the Apostolic Archbishop Auza and the UN SRSG Sandra Honoré, as well as other political leaders and representatives of the international community.
