Political Leadership for Democratic Development

The Club of Madrid has received numerous requests to address urgent needs to assist leaders in the construction of an efficient democracy. Our goal is to continue to consider these requests cooperating with governments in these countries with the support of other international parties.
 

Democratic Stability

Full consolidation of democracy takes time. However, in the transition stages, and when consolidation is still young, democracy evolves quickly. Opportunities present themselves and disappear as rapidly. It is in these crucial moments that leaders of democratic reform most need outside assistance. The Club of Madrid is increasingly called upon, at short notice, to provide such urgent support.

The Club of Madrid is a "tile in the mosaic" of democracy promotion. Many highly respected and effective organizations, both within and outside of governments work to strengthen democracies and democratic institutions. The Club of Madrid, working often with others, is the one organization that specifically focuses on leadership for democracy.
