The Experts gathered by Casa Árabe and The Club of Madrid at the Roundtable on “The Political Dimensions of the World Economic Crisis: an Arab World Perspective”, held in Madrid on October 28, 2009, agreed that the economic crisis affecting the Arab World has had different causes and effects depending on each country´s characteristics and that the recovery and way out of the crisis will have to take into account also those differences. Experts discussed political dimensions affected by the crisis at the national, regional and international level. In this respect, although the sociopolitical aspects of the region are extremely diverse, in order to recover a solid and sustained path of economic growth in the near future, experts exposed actions and policies to be put forward in three particular areas: development strategies & governance; regional integration; and international cooperation.
