Vicente Fox advocates for a human rights approach to the migration phenomena

The President of Mexico and CdM Member, Vicente Fox, along with his fellow organization's Members Quiroga, Chinchilla, Frei, Lacalle and L. Fernandez, stressed the need to focus on strenghening the citezens participation and defended migration as a right not as a privilege ath the first Latinamerican Forum for an Inclusive Democracy hold this week in Guanajuato, Mexico.

The Forum wasco-organized by the Club de Madrid and the Centro Fox with two main goals in the agenda: creating an open and frank room to debate the democratic challenges that Latin America is facing and the need of working towards sustainable Shared Societies. In this sense, the agenda devoted one day to each of those items: the first day was dedicated to address which measures must be implememented in order to achieve more inclusive and fairer societies. How to implement effective measures to include Afrodescendent and Indigenous origen people; which are the best ways to tackle the migratory phenomena with a human rights focus and the importance of the link between Shared Socities, sustainability and the Agenda 2030 where the main topics for discussion

The  Next Generation Democracy Agenda for Latin America was discussed and presented during the second day. This Agenda is the final product of two years of work and research in the framework of the Next Generation Democracy (NGD) project, lead by the Club de Madrid with the collaboration of  IDEA International and the Bertelsmann Foundation.

The event will also be attended by high level experts such as, Rebeca Grynspan, SEGIB's Secretary General; Alicia Bárcena, CEPAL's Secretary General or Florinda Rojas, Director of the Instituto Nacional de Inmigración de República Dominicana and Shared Societies NetPLUSS Members among others.
