Panel on Climate Change Forum in Brussels

March 28, 2010

March 26-28 2010, Brussels, Belgium - Gro Harlem Brundtland, member of the Club of Madrid and Prime Minister of Norway from 1986-1989 and 1990-1996, advocated the recommendations of the initiative GLCA during the Panel on Climate Change Forum in Brussels. This important high-level forum brings together annually the most influential politicians, business people and intellectuals in North America and Europe.

On this occasion Prime Minister Brundtland was part of this discussion with Ambassador Paula J. Dobriansky, Senior Vice President and Head of Government Affairs for Thomson Reuters, the Honorable Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action, and Dr. CS Kiang, Chairman of the Sustainable Development Technology Foundation of Beijing.

During the Panel Gro Harlem Brundtland said that in her opinion, "the United Nations system is the only place, the only forum where you can forge a global agreement. (...) There is no other institution that can make a better agreement". She also confirmed that she agreed with the European Commissioner for Climate Action, that "Europe for years has led the fight against climate change, and without Europe, we would not be where we are."
