The Club de Madrid and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-organized a debate on “Changes in the Arab World: Revolutions towards Democracy?” held in the Diplomatic School of Madrid on April 5, with keynote speeches by Wim Kok (Prime Minister of the Netherlands, 1994-2002 and President of the Club de Madrid), Lionel Jospin (Prime Minister of France, 1997-2002), Sadig Al Mahdi (Prime Minister of Sudan, 1966-1967 and 1986-1989) and Abdul-Kareem Al Eryani (Prime Minister of Yemen, 1980-1983 and 1998-2001) through a video message.

The Board of Directors of the Club de Madrid held its XXVII meeting last Wednesday 6 April in Madrid, Spain.
Among other issues, members discussed the organization of our 2011 General Assembly and Annual Conference (November 7-8) and possible Club de Madrid project activity in the Middle East and North Africa. In parallel to the Board of Directors meeting, an extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly was organized to ratify a series of financial documents as well as the membership of Oscar Arias (President of Costa Rica, 1986-1990 and 2006-2010) and Alfred Gusenbauer (Federal Chancellor of Austria, 2007-2008) who thereby become the 80th and 81st members of the organization.
The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for July 6.
