President Clinton called or public-private partnerships and sustained commitment to Haiti’s future. Clinton addressed the Club de Madrid members adn experts participating in the special session on Reconstruction and Democratic Development: The Case of Haiti where Haitian State Minister Delatour was keynote speaker. The session followed the Club de Madrid's IX General Assembly

 

 

 

Following the tragic earthquake that hit Haiti in January this year, the Club of Madrid launched its Global Leadership for Haiti’s Reconstruction Project through which the Members of the Club of Madrid provide political leadership support to the Haitian authorities for consensus building on key strategic issues in the refoundation of the state.


After two successful missions, a first one in July led by the President Lagos, and a second one in September led by Prime Minister Jospin, participants of this session shared with Haitian State Minister Patrick Delatourthe the initial findings of the initiative, and exchanged views with a broader audience on the challenges ahead in building back the Haitian State.
