Club de Madrid publishes the summary of the Next Generation Democracy Sub-Saharan Africa Roundtable.

Joaquim Chissano, Olusegun Obasanjo, Hamadi Jebali and Joyce Banda, Club de Madrid members and former Presidents and Prime Ministers of Mozambique, Nigeria, Tunisia and Malawi respectively, gathered in a two-day meeting to discuss existing good practices and transformative ideas to advance democracy in Africa, together with experts, civil society representatives, young leaders and other stakeholders from the region.

Three Club de Madrid Members lead the NGD Sub-Saharan Africa Roundtable in Dakar, Senegal

Senegal hosted the Next Generation Democracy Sub-Saharan Africa Roundtable on 21-22 April 2016. It brought together three Club de Madrid Members in addition to a group of regional experts and representatives from Governments, CSOs, as well as a high-level African Scientific Committee coordinated by the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), to discuss the present and future of democracy in Africa. Joyce Banda, nominated Club de Madrid Member and former President of Malawi also contributed to the debate.

The Club de Madrid supports the Mexican Presidency of the G20 in its Green Growth Agenda

In a key moment for the design of national and international policies that drive growth in the context of global economic crisis, the Club de Madrid and the Mexican Presidency of the G20, with the help of AeroMéxico and Acciona, organized a roundtable on April 30th 2012 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico to identify and discuss recommendations on this issue, which is of vital importance for the G20 agenda and a top priority for the Mexican presidency. The recommendations will be handed in by Dra. Lourdes Aranda, Mexican Sherpa to the G20, to President Felipe Calderón before the upcoming G20 Summit in Los Cabos in June , and will be delivered to the G20 Development Working Group´s.
