Following-up on the National Workshop on Alternative Narratives to Violent Extremism, organized in Abuja on May 23-24, the CdM conducted a High-Level Mission to Nigeria (July 17-18), led by Club de Madrid Members, President Cassam Uteem (Mauritius) and President Festus Mogae (Bostwana). Members Mogae and Uteem discuss about PVE in Nigeria with country's key stakeholders

Club de Madrid Members, President Cassam Uteem (Mauritius) and President Festus Mogae (Bostwana) are leading a two days high level mission to Nigeria in which they have been received by the acting President of the country, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. During the meeting, held in Abuja this Monday, the former Presidents presented to Mr Osinabjo a report summarizing the conclusions from the National Workshop held last May in Nigeria.

The Dar es Salaam Statement

A group of informed African leaders and citizens met on 19th and 20th November in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania under the auspices of the Club de Madrid and the UONGOZI Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development. It was co-chaired by Club de Madrid Members H.E. Benjamin Mkapa, former President of Tanzania, H.E. Festus Mogae, former President of Botswana and H.E Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria.

Members Mkapa and Mogae state that Africa needs to get green

The Club de Madrid in cooperation with the P80  Group Foundation has organized an event during the African Development Bank’s annual meeting to discuss how to finance green and sustainable projects in Africa

African Development Bank and Club de Madrid agree to foster sustainable green growth

The Energy, Environment and the Climate Change Department of the African Development Bank and the Club de Madrid have signed a collaboration agreement in order to foster and promote during the Bank’s annual meeting the message that all energy in Africa needs to be sustainable to make green growth possible.

The organization has added four new Members, growing its total number of former democratic Heads of States to 74. Former Presidents John Kufuor (Ghana), Festus Mogae (Botswana), Olusegun Obasanjo (Nigeria) and Ferenc Mádl (Hungary) were voted into the organization during its 2009 General Assembly in Madrid held last 12 November 2009.
