Carla Fernández-Durán received her BA from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE) in Law and International Relations (2005) and Political Science (2006). After that she studied a Master’s degree researching on “Women’s Political Participation in Mauritania”. Currently she is a Ph.D candidate in Human Rights at Université Paris 2, Panthéon Sorbonne.  

Her professional experience has been focused on development and human rights. She was the coordinator for the Institute of International Legal Studies (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos) project “Rule of Law and Gender” (État de Droit et Femme en Mauritanie) in Mauritania (Comunidad de Madrid), and worked for the Livre Blanc de la Décentralisation en Mauritanie project (AECID). She has also worked as a Professor´s assistant in Comparative Constitutional Law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid.

Carla speaks Spanish, English and French.
