Ten former presidents and 50 experts tackle the challegues of the Next Generation Democracy in the Americas

The fight against inequality, poverty corruption and violence plus, the ethical renovation of political parties were identified as the main challengues to be faced in the Americas in a three day forum held in Bogotá. Within Next Generation Democracy’s (NGD) project, the comprehensive debate on the current state and future of democracy will –within its dynamic world process- also take a specific look to the Americas Region. Members of the Club de Madrid from the region of the Americas along with experts and relevant regional actors will discuss around the question of democracy in a new regional Roundtable in Colombia next 24-26 August. Welcome to Perú!

The Club de Madrid has undertaken a survey mission to Peru in January (23-27) to identify a potential Shared Societies country implementation project. The Shared Societies programme officer, Carla Fernández-Durán, and Dr Werner Puschra, Executive Director of the New York Office of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, have been exploring the possibility of taking the Shared Societies Project to Latin America, particularly to Peru.

From Rising Inequalities to Shared Societies at the IMF-World Bank annual meetings

The Club de Madrid, the Center of Concern and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, have jointly organised the second conference this year at the International Monetary and Financial Institutions: “From Rising Inequalities to Shared Societies: The need to create a sustainable International Monetary and Financial System” , held on September 25 in Washington DC during the Annual Meetings of the IMF-World Bank.
