Mario Tascón

Mario Tascón is Managing Partner of Prodigioso Volcán S.L., a strategic consultancy company that handles the project management of programmes, the architecture of information, communication strategies and the design of new forms of media.

He directs the Spanish version of Manual for the Internet, social networks and new media for the Fundaciónn del Español Urgente (Fundéu).

He acts as a consultant to Diximedia, a company that specializes in the development of digital media whose network currently contains 233grados.com (a blog focussing upon journalism and communication), Practicopedia.com (a website of audiovisual content that specialises in "the how of things") and lainformacion.com (a general digital journal).

He is a lecturer at the Gabriel Garcia Máquez New Iberoamerican Journalism Foundation.

From 2000 until 2008 he was director general of the digital branch of the group Prisa, overseeing all of the web and telephone developments of the different brands of the group (El País, Cadena SER, Cuatro...) as well as part of the Santillana training.

Between 1989 to 2000 Mario Tascón worked at El Mundo, a newspaper forwhich he was associate editor, as well as the first director and manager of the website edition (elmundo.es) helping it become the leading online newspaper in Spain.

He has acted as a consultant to more than 15 international media outlets, notably the Corriere Della Sera and La Nación de Argentina as well as to the Spanish government and various other organisations.

He is an associate professor at the University of Navarra and has lectured and headed conferences in various universities across Spain, North America and Europe.

He is a member of the international board of the Online News Association (ONA).
