Abdul-kareem Al-Eryani

Prime Minister of Yemen
(1980-1983, 1998-2001)

As an expert on development issues, Dr. Al-Eryani led agricultural projects in his early career, before being appointed Chairman of the Central Planning Committee in 1972.  Dr. Al-Eryani held various Ministerial portfolios throughout his career: Development, Education, Foreign Affairs, and Development Planning. He was elected Prime Minister for the first time in 1980, and a second time in 1998. He currently serves as a political advisor to the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. He is also since 2007 the Secretary General of the Arab Association for Democracy, a nongovernmental organisation with membership from 17 Arab countries.
