Andrés Pastrana

President of Colombia
(1998-2002)

Son of former Colombian President Misael Pastrana, Andrés Pastrana has had a sense of public duty from a very young age. He entered politics in 1982 at local level, serving as City Councilor of Bogotá until 1986 and as its Mayor from 1988 until 1990. Founder of the New Democratic Force movement he served in the Senate from 1991 until 1993. He was elected President of Colombia in 1998 for a four-year term. After his presidential tenure, he served as the Colombian Ambassador in the US from 2005 until 2006.
